Meet the head coach
Kadek, also known as Karo, is a dedicated and experienced local surf instructor from Belalang, Kedungu—one of Bali’s hidden surf gems known for its consistent waves and peaceful atmosphere. Raised just minutes from the ocean, Karo grew up with a natural connection to the sea. He started surfing at the age of 12, and since then, the ocean has become not only his playground but also his way of life.
Over the years, Karo has developed a deep understanding of waves, tides, and ocean safety, shaped by countless hours in the water. What began as a personal passion soon grew into a professional path, leading him to become a full-time surf instructor. Today, with more than 12 years of teaching experience, he has helped surfers from around the world take their first steps on a board and progress into confident, independent riders.
Karo specializes in teaching beginners and intermediate surfers, focusing on building strong fundamentals, proper technique, and ocean awareness. His teaching style is calm, patient, and encouraging—creating a relaxed environment where students can learn at their own pace while still feeling challenged and motivated. Safety is always his top priority, and every lesson is carefully adapted to the student’s level, conditions, and comfort in the water.
Kedungu holds a special place in Karo’s heart. As his favorite surf spot, it offers the perfect setting to learn and improve, away from the heavy crowds found in other areas of Bali. Here, Karo shares not only his skills but also his local knowledge, giving students an authentic and personal surfing experience.
Beyond technique, Karo believes that surfing is about connection—to the ocean, to nature, and to oneself. His goal is not just to teach people how to stand on a board, but to help them truly enjoy the process, build confidence, and create lasting memories in the water.

Terms and Conditions
By booking a surf lesson or any service with Karo Surf Kedungu, you agree to the following terms and conditions:
1. Booking & Payment
All bookings must be made in advance and are subject to availability. A deposit or full payment may be required to secure your reservation. Payments can be made via the methods provided by Karo Surf Kedungu.
2. Cancellation & Rescheduling
Cancellations made at least 24 hours before the scheduled lesson are eligible for rescheduling or refund. Cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance may not be refunded. Rescheduling is subject to availability and weather conditions.
3. Weather & Ocean Conditions
Surfing is dependent on weather and ocean conditions. For safety reasons, Karo Surf Kedungu reserves the right to reschedule lessons if conditions are deemed unsafe. In such cases, you will be offered an alternative time or date.
4. Health & Fitness
Participants must be in good physical condition and able to swim. By booking, you confirm that you have no medical conditions that may affect your ability to participate in surfing activities. Please inform us in advance of any injuries or health concerns.
5. Safety & Instructions
All participants must follow the instructions given by the surf instructors at all times. Karo Surf Kedungu prioritizes safety, and failure to follow guidelines may result in termination of the lesson without refund.
6. Personal Belongings
Guests are responsible for their personal belongings. Karo Surf Kedungu is not liable for any loss, theft, or damage to personal items.
7. Equipment Responsibility
All surf equipment provided must be used responsibly. Any damage caused by misuse, negligence, or failure to follow instructions will be charged to the participant.
8. Insurance & Liability
Participants are responsible for their own travel and health insurance. While we take every precaution to ensure safety, Karo Surf Kedungu is not liable for any injuries, accidents, or damages that may occur during the activity.
9. Late Arrival
Please arrive on time for your lesson. Late arrivals may result in reduced session time or cancellation without refund.
10. Photography & Media
Karo Surf Kedungu may take photos or videos during lessons for promotional purposes. Please inform us in advance if you do not wish to be included.
